State Highway 2 through the Karangahake Gorge is closed following a serious crash.
The two-vehicle crash happened near School Rd and was reported just before 1pm, a police spokesperson said.
鈥淚nitial indications are that there are serious injuries.
鈥淒etours are in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area and expect delays.鈥
In a highway alert this afternoon, NZTA said 鈥淜-Gorge is closed, between School Rd, Karangahake and Waitawheta Rd, Waikino.
鈥淪H2 is closed to through-traffic between Paeroa and Waih墨.
鈥淒elay your journey or consider using alternative route.鈥
Emergency services have been called to the crash.
